Pros
- If you're lucky and get to work with a great team, you'll have a great sense of community, this is the only reason I am still working here-aside from the fact the job market is slim pickings right now - The perfect job for people new to the retail experience and needing something to put on their resume for other higher paying retail jobs - Good """character building""" for yourself!! 🙃
Cons
- Corporate absolutely does not trust you as a person and especially not as an employee. Full stop. You'll unfortunately have to bug your managers for the most minor of things because- for example- things like the Quantity option, Item Void option, and other things are locked on your till. needing manager involvement, which can get quite annoying after a while. - Being verbally harassed or intimidated by customers frequently enough to the point I would now expect said harassment most every shift, causing me to not feel exactly 100% safe when on shift -My overall worldview on American society has definitely been altered negatively - Essentially no benefits aside from some kind subscription to a "stress relief app" - When cashiering, you'll have to multi-task between helping customers and doing freight at the same time, making the shift very stressful. You should have to only be assigned one or the other, with tasks you can do while you stay at the front to help people to fill up empty time - I genuinely believe having this job has cause me to develop a major social anxiety disorder after being here for around 3 years now
