Pros
The people I have worked with are almost the only positive. They are somewhat more flexible with your schedule.
Cons
So many to list so little time. They expect you to be able to do the work of 5 people when you are management for crappy pay. As a mere employee you will get a bare minimum of hours for minimum wage. They dont do raises except management and they only pay minimum wage to regular employees with no raises ever. I have been with this company for 10 years next month and have worked in stores on both sides of the country. I have also helped out at various stores in between. Why do I stay? I stay because of my coworkers. We are like a family. Dollar Tree offers nothing to the people that work for them. I want to challenge upper management to come in and work my store for 1 month. I want to see if they can effectively do all that they require their employees to do. They constantly cut hours leaving my managers to carry a huge caseload that is too overwhelming and physically impossible for anyone to accomplish. All the while cutting the hours of regular employees so they can't afford to put food on their table. Im retired so I dont need this job but I've stay because I'm good at what I do and dont want to see people I care about work themselves to death for a company that couldn't care less about them. They bury us in stock literally and then get on us because our storeroom is piled high with crap. We can't control how fast product get bought by consumers. We can control the desirability of our stores as a shopping experience. But when you dont have enough staff allowed to work the look of the store suffers as foes the shopping experience. Now I'm told that I go look for anything in the back room when a customer asks. Thats just wrong! I refuse to do that so fire me.
