Pros
Fairly nice offices and PM's are great. Plenty of parking. Easy to get to.
Cons
I was hired into a new position they had never had before. Within a few days, I knew I had made a tremendous mistake. Even though I had clear discussions with my boss about what duties he was to hand over to me, it never happened. I was treated as if I was a data entry person, not an experienced accountant -over26 years. My boss held on to the tasks as if his life depended on it, giving me very few opportunities to be a true high level accountant. He knew I was beyond capable of doing the job, as the few things he let go of, he literally just handed to me and they were done with excellence. He never had to show me anything at all. What a bosses dream...zero training needed. I do not know if he just did not want another high level financial hired? Or perhaps, he wanted to be the only financial person there with those abilities, or if there was some other reason...but he simply would never allow me to do my job. I also knew there were a couple special projects that the owner had mentioned, but the CFO continued to downplay those and delayed assigning to me until way past the owners patience. When I was finally told to do it, I completed one quickly and with great success and was almost finished with the other one within a couple weeks of assignment. Even though according to my boss..it would take a long time and to "not rush and take my time" (sabatoge in my opinion). But, I did work as fast as I could regardless, as I knew what he was saying was not the urgency impression I was getting from the owner. So, basically, I feel strongly the owner was asking him to have me do ...xyz...but that was never communicated to me in the same urgency or manner, if at all. I made a few friends and worked hard to learn the industry and business...on my own as there was ZERO ONBOARDING. When i say ZERO...that is no exxageration. It was zero. BUT, I am smart and I managed, meeting with other departments and employees to learn on my own...all arranged on my own. Overall, i initially liked the owner very much, but quickly learned the culture he is creating there is not something I would ever want to be a part of. I was so incredibly excited to start there, as I thought from the interview that it was a TRUE top level accounting position. But, it was not and they should be ashamed for misleading me so much and allowing my boss to refuse to pass down duties. Not to mention, I had several other true top level financial position offers that I turned down for this. WOW what a mistake that was. Even though I got along well with my boss, always being respectful and patient, he was hands down the worst boss I ever had in my entire career. 5 days of PTO a year is also ridiculous. If you get an offer here for a professional position, i suggest you RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN in the other direction. This was the absolute biggest mistake of my entire career and I regret taking this position more than I can ever express.
