Pros

The product is pretty complicated so you work diversely on many things It's a thirty year old startup so there's still a startup environment

Cons

It's still a startup so it's that kind of mentality.

Pros

Dot Hill offered a great intern experience and provided work in a very broad range of topics. My boss was very responsive and helpful. Every employee I worked with loved their job. There was also a great sense of community.

Cons

I can't say I ran into any cons during my time at Dot Hill. I could not have hoped for a better intern experience.

Pros

Good products, good people. I mean you would like to work there but it is an OK company. They are in to OEM business and thus the probability of failure is quite less. They were once, for a few years, not making profit, employees had pay cuts but they managed to get back up and making a profitable company.

Cons

Products are good from HW and architecture perspective but SW implementation is weak in my opinion. They do not have a good testing system and thus are scared to make changes to ensure a quality SW stack. Products fail for stupid reasons at customer's site! Customers find basic flaw in how some information is presented! They do not do something that is technically right until a customer makes a request! The modules that I have looked at is what I call the patchy-patch code i.e. the type of code where number of limited nature fixes keep growing and a couple of years down the line one can't make sense of a few parts of the code. Requirements document don't exist, sometimes they are made after the fact! Some managers micro-manage which even irritates colleagues from other departments. Some employees are not empowered and they do not learn anything outside of their box. And due to a bit antique SW mentality of some seniors, some new/junior employees even forget what they knew :) To summarize, one can't call the SW group awesome, it is just another OK group. It is neither good nor bad, just OK.
