Pros

I was with Dragos for five years running marketing. It was the best five years of my professional experience, and I highly recommend working there. I was fortunate enough to join a company with the best mission on the planet: to safeguard civilization from those trying to disrupt the industrial infrastructure we depend on every day. This mission attracted the best and brightest OT cybersecurity SMEs, especially in electric, oil & gas, and manufacturing, as well as the most dedicated people I’ve had the pleasure to work with. Customers luv Dragos. I never worked for a company with so many engaged and enthusiastic customers. I often remarked that when marketing reached out to a group of customers for a reference, an event, webinar, briefing, etc., I don’t know that any one of them ever said “no.” If you work in marketing, you know this is unheard of. I attribute this both to the mission-driven culture at Dragos and customers feeling part of that mission, and to the people at Dragos who treat customers as members of the broader OT community and an essential element for our mission’s success. Dragos prides itself on its culture of transparency. I’ve never worked with a company that has shared more information about the business than Dragos. At times too much information was shared. I say that because it can be difficult to understand aspects of the business and go-to-market strategy, financials, and other metrics without full context. This isn’t a matter of “then well share more,” it’s just not practical. If you’re interested in working for a mission-driven company, where the mission is focused on community, I don’t think you can do better than Dragos. And if you want to work with or become one of the best talents in OT cybersecurity, I don’t think you’ll find a better opportunity than Dragos, the recognized global authority in this space.

Cons

Dragos is a rapidly growing startup experiencing many typical startup company pains which can be difficult and a bad fit for some.

Pros

Dragos offers a very specific and unique mission that allows one to contribute ot have more visibility to your work compared to getting buried in a larger or more general organization. In general, great and helpful teams which are well aligned. Definitely retains is smaller startup type vibe in comparison to massive tech orgs. Recent Accenture news has certainly energized many efforts and reduced uncertainty or doubt both internally and externally. Definitely a sense of “hitting stride” and its a great time to be here.

Cons

Not immune to typical corporate problems such as politics or changes in company or product direction. Much of that is in the past or a result of prior leadership. With recent news and current direction, many of the previously mentioned negatives have been removed. There is a very specific focus for the company and that may be too niche for some. Dragos is entirely remote and generally requires a bit of autonomy to your role, may not be the best for junior positions or those more accustomed to an office environment.

Pros

Dragos’ mission is unparalleled. You get to work on some of the hardest problems, turning abstract ideas into technical solutions. The solutions directly benefit millions of people who rely on power, clean water, and food. The company is very focused on this mission. This focus stems from Rob himself. Not once in five years has he wavered from this focus. For some people, it’s just a job. But for Rob, it’s a cause. This intense commitment to keeping civilization safe can be off-putting for those who view the company and mission as just another temporary stepping stone up the career ladder. If one is willing to work hard, seek to maximize the value that they offer for this mission, and work with a sense of urgency, then there is a place for them at Dragos. I’ll close with this: Dragos employees work from home, earn in the top percentiles relative to all other workers in the USA, serve a mission that was more important than any one person, and receive amazing benefits. Yet, despite this, some former employees complain. I personally believe some of those people lacked perspective maybe the whole time they were at Dragos. It’s easy to be a critic. It’s a lot harder to keep focus on such a fundamental mission for over a decade while building a company and fighting off malicious adversaries. People need to keep that in mind.

Cons

Honestly I can’t think of anything. People have to be truly out of touch with reality in America to find fault.
