Pros

The work itself is pretty interesting.

Cons

Clueless management; they didn't understand what my project was about, let alone provide useful guidance. Poor coding practices even among seasoned developers; the emphasis is on getting it done rather than getting it done right. Terrible facilities; you should expect to work in a windowless closet. If you need IT support, better try to fix it yourself, as they can take hours or days to arrive. Arbitrary evaluation; I was threatened with early termination without a clear performance evaluation, and for reasons unrelated to my measurable performance. General posturing; most people have neither the skills nor the desire to recognize good technical work. Expect to be surrounded by people trying to appear as smart as possible. Expect decisions to be made solely on how much people like you.

Pros

Interesting work, good colleagues, company is supportive and there is good work/life balance. There are leadership opportunities for those to want them. Pay is competitive.

Cons

Raises haven't kept up with inflation. It's hard to break in as a new employee. There is a lot of change, mostly for the better but a lot of change.
