Pros

There is a strong mechanical engineering group, with some on ASME code committees. Some are willing to teach younger engineers.

Cons

The location was not very good. The plant is in the middle of a small town (Ornage, TX) with no night life. Shops close early on the week days, and you're lucky to find one open on the the weekends. East Texas is not a friendly area for minorities. Employees tend to be very clicky, so if you're not part of the group, it's tough to succeed. There's a lot of GOB networking. Employees are very cut throat, and I witnessed this behavior encouraged by management. Needless to say, it's a highly stressful work environment. Beware of who you trust. Management does not support outside training.

Pros

Great people, strong commitment to safety, competitive pay and benefits, and excellent work-life balance. The company provides opportunities to work on meaningful projects with talented cross-functional teams, and there is a culture of collaboration and continuous learning. Flexible work arrangements and supportive managers (depending on the organization) make it a great place to build a long-term career.

Cons

Frequent organizational changes and restructuring can create uncertainty, and decision-making can be slowed by bureaucracy. Career growth opportunities may be limited in some organizations, and employees can become siloed or feel disconnected depending on the role and team.
