MS Buyout Was Not Good for Us - Financial Services Representative E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley Employee Review

Pros

The company pays you to study for the SIE, Series 7 and 63. We were able to work from home. Relaxed management style prior to MS takeover. Benefits are above average, although MS benefits aren't as good as E*TRADE's were.

Cons

Now that MS is fully in control, we are micromanaged and treated like we're working in a true call center. Daily emails are sent from the manager with the entire team's metrics and shaming those who are underperforming. Employee morale has dropped quickly and employees are looking for work elsewhere. MS wants all employees, even those who were hired as fully remote, to come into the office, no exceptions.

Pros

It is a friendly work environment—at least at the Gilbert office. Colleagues are very helpful, and managers are highly supportive of your work. I enjoy working here; there is no office politics. The pay is good, and there are plenty of opportunities to transfer to different roles.

Cons

The new system is nowhere near as good as the old one; I don't know why we were forced to switch. Sometimes, even after you submit a workflow, the new system doesn't even show it. There are plenty of opportunities to transfer to other roles, but applications go completely unanswered. You have to contact HR, yet they barely seem to care. It’s essentially a call center; even though your colleagues are great, you never know if the next customer might ruin your entire day.
