-Most of the time doing extremely repetitive and rote work. It's very easy to feel like a mechanical cog in the wheel of a profit driven machine. There comes a point when it doesn't matter how high profit margin is because enjoying life is very, very difficult when you have to work like a machine for 40 hours/week, every week, doing mostly uncreative work. Even if someone became a billionaire, they would likely be unhappy living half of their waking hours (or more) doing transactional work.
-this is why its so important to understand and appreciate the implications of the work: what our customers do, how they use the data, and what problems they're solving. Countless major tech companies use EAG, and if it weren't for EAG's services, their products would not be successful. Unfortunately, the work environment does not easily allow one to see this bigger impact. its only about the $$$ as fast as possible and curiosity goes down the drain. if u like wearing multiple hats and seeing the 'bigger picture,' this place may not be for u.
-with so many people working in their own bubbles, it's hard to see or appreciate how other departments operate. Someone from one team can ask millions from another team, not realizing how difficult a request is, and vice versa. This can create occasional conflict and make some overly territorial.
-Some software systems can be improved to lessen unnecessary, repetitive work. No human is perfect, and its rather easy to make simple mistakes. doesn't need to be this way if all had the attitude of yes, a mistake happened, now a chance to learn of how we can improve ourselves and our systems. growth mindset needs to be emphasized and used, not just advertised.
