Cons
- Pay is terrible. Even with a BS I only received $17 per hour - You have to use your own vehicle to get to and from work sites and gas isn't covered by the company. Parking in DC is a nightmare - Work is meaningless and takes no time. I'd spent 8 hours at a work site and perform maybe three soil tests (which take five minutes at most) and give papers to truck drivers every two hours. Incredibly boring, though after I'd had enough I used this time to apply to masters programs and new jobs. - Terrible working conditions in the winter. I'd be outside in 0 degree F weather for 8 hours a day and the company provided us with no winter gear, handwarmers, or anything to make working in the winter more pleasant. No one even checked in on us to make sure we were okay. - Work is very lonely. You rarely interact with anyone except the odd construction workers and truck drivers.
