Pros
We got Chick-fil-a once a month. I do not exaggerate when I say there is nothing good I have to say about working here. The 5 months that I worked here were a living nightmare.
Cons
1. Aside from the very low hourly rate, you only paid at your hourly rate when you are physically on the job site. The countless hours that are spent driving, writing reports, or working in the office are not added to your hourly rate. It is near impossible to make a 40 hour work week, let alone overtime, but it is not uncommon to be working from 3am to 5pm. 2. There is no predictable work schedule. You essentially have to be on call from Monday to Saturday from 12am to 5pm because any job can pop up then. It's near impossible to have a work-life balance. They also make it very difficult to get time off for basic things like dentist or doctors appointments where you have to fill out forms several days in advance, etc. 3. This one angers me the most. These people think your personal vehicle is their company property. They do not provide company owned vehicles and they expect you to haul heavy, dirty equipment onto construction sites with your personal vehicle whether you're driving a pickup truck, sedan, or sports car. In the 5 months I worked there, I damaged my pickup truck multiple times on job sites, I had to get my tires replaced because of a nail I ran over onsite, I also had a concrete truck back into the front which broke my grill and dented my hood, and by the time I quit, it was FILTHY. The repairs and cleaning were not cheap and unsurprisingly, they didn't pay a penny in reimbursements for damage done to my vehicle on THEIR time. As mentioned before, you are not paid your hourly rate for the countless hours you are driving, and you're only given a small stipend for gas. 4. This company with throw you to the wolves when it comes to training. I only had a week of training and I went in the field knowing barely anything. I messed up several times and my boss was still not empathetic towards my lack of knowledge that he made little effort to give me. 5. NO BENEFITS! No 401k, medical, dental, vision, or life insurance. 6. Toxic boss and work environment. It was very clear that everyone aside from the boss hated their jobs. While we worked our tails off, it was not uncommon for him to go play golf. While we beat up our own vehicles working for him, he'd drive a clean, fancy pickup truck.
