Pros
*The freedom, per se of working on your own. And being on the go. * the project managers, do very good job at being available and answering your questions. Especially Dan he will email you the night before when the schedule comes out. Lets you know what is going on at the site next day and any specs that you will need. Which saves you as a technician a lot of time having to go in to The tech folders and try to find the information. The tech folders are definitely not organized. If there is even a tech folder for the project. I know it doesn’t seem like much. But when you are home and you’re not on the clock and you are having to do work to find information about your job for the next day, it actually means and helps out a lot. Jeff, the office manager seems like he really wants to see that place do well and seems to care. I just think he just assumes certain people are doing their job better than they actually are. Which in turn is a big reason the technicians don’t stick around.
Cons
*To much wear on your personal vehicle. You do get $.65 per mile but you only get mileage for the difference between Ecs and the jobsite and your home to Ecs. So unless you live close to Ecs, it isn’t worth it. *The training is horrible. You watch a ton of videos in a room by yourself. Zzzzz. No hands on training. And then they send you out with another tech the first week, that has only been there for a month or two and are still learning them selves. They don’t make sure you actually have specific on site training on each type of job that you will be performing and then they just send you to a site pretty much throw you to the wolves. The training on the computer program they use is also horrible. *The communication with the supervisors is also horrible. Good luck getting them to answer the phone if you have a question. Especially the immediate supervisor. * They always switch up your jobs . so it’s like starting a new job every day. Instead of giving you a project/ job site and letting you be the one that handles that job for the duration of the project, he always send different people. I’ve had numerous jobsite supervisors complain about that as well. * sometimes you don’t get the schedule for the next day until seven or 8:00 PM. at the earliest 5 PM. * they hire you in for full-time. But getting 40 hours a week is very rare. And if you do get a busy week of long days and you’re actually going to get some overtime on Friday, they will schedule you to be off on Friday so you don’t get that overtime. * they claim you have paid holidays and insurance but it goes off the hours you work. So if you’re only getting 20 hours a week because of the way he schedules and of course, the weather, you aren’t entitled to those benefits unless you average like 35 hours per week.
