Pros

Great working environment that focuses on teamwork. For the most part, employees seem to pride themselves on patient-centered care; they take the mission to heart and truly want to aid patients and their families in whatever way possible. Community involvement is encouraged. Another great aspect is growth from within. It seems like managers would rather grow and promote employees who are interested in growing before considering outside candidates. It really is a community. The benefits are decent, but they do start day 1 which is nice. Another great benefit is discounted membership to the Vidant Wellness Center. It is the first gym that I've been a member of where I didn't have to wait for equipment, even during the peak 5pm-8pm hours. It's also really clean. The employee pharmacy is awesome! Generics are often 5 dollars or less. They also have bandaids, cough drops, diapers, etc. for crazy low prices.

Cons

It really is a community, therefore there are negative employees and departments and managers that don't embrace the mission. However, there is new leadership and they seem to be making positive changes. Parking is an issue, you will get ticketed and booted and it will be expensive if you park outside of your designated area. Your designated area will be far from the hospital unless you work nights or are a physician or PA. And while the cafeteria has great options, it is very crowded from 12-1.
