Pros

The benefits, and the people I work with, not including management.

Cons

Increased workload on nurses. Not enough staff. When there are carepartners there, and you get lucky to work with one that isn't hiding, or wrapped up in a blanket, you are fortunate. Everybody RNs CPs Secretary's are too busy on their phones, laptop etc. The few core staff are having to help half of the travelers they hire, because they only get two days orientation. Some are barely experienced, so you can only imagine the extra work for core staff, the nurses are trying to be a nurse, but are too busy doing carepartner jobs. At least pay them for both jobs. Or how about, just having the people you do hire actually perform the duties they were hired to do. No one says anything to anyone, walk up on most floors, and see how many employees are on their phones. Walk down the hallways, the cleaning people , stockers etc. Standing around on their phones. No matter how hard you work, no matter how long you have been there, they will fire you for anything that does not pertain to actual patient care. You can almost cause or not recognize a patient is in trouble and you still work there. Miss one day too many, and you are done, they wouldn't care if you were the best nurse on earth. And please do not complain and let it get back to management. Once that is done, you then better start counting the days, because they will "separate" you from employment, eventually. They just have to wait for you either to miss too many days, etc. You can be the sorriest , laziest, nurse with a severe lack of knowledgeable and you will be fine, same goes for anyone involved in direct patient care. Grab a blanket and pull out your phone!!
