Pros

Coworkers and current immediate management.

Cons

1. Boring curriculum with lack of build and there’s a mess with putting students in the right level. 2. Attendance policies end up encouraging sick students to come to class and discouraging traveling. 3. A lot of the students become dissatisfied with time because they are not receiving their money’s worth which makes it harder to teach. 4. The company doesn’t care about employees or students/customers. It’s bewildering to what extent EF will push profit. Sometimes it’s counterintuitive. For example, the teacher turnover rate is incredibly high, you would think that the company would have realized by this time that paying teachers a bit more will actually bring more profit and better quality, but no. 5. You know the low pay you are going to get when you sign up for the job. Everyone knows that they are going to spend more than the paid 15 minutes to prepare for class. What you don’t know when you are signing the contract, is the amount of mandatory, mundane, and pointless work that you will have to do beyond lesson prep. And this mundane work will take you more time than your allotted 15 minutes.

Pros

Well structured, comprehensive formal training. Perks and benefits

Cons

Once training is done, you’re pretty much on your own to figure things out. The weekly meetings with your manager end. You spend all day on the phones and there’s not a whole lot of interaction or collaboration going on in the office or across your team. At the end of the day it is a job and the perks and benefits are nice (travel). It just seemed social interaction of any kind, even to ask questions, was discouraged and in fact was viewed as distracting. The cold calling just gets to be tiring after a while, making it hard to stay at the job for longer than 1-2 years. Good entry level sales job, though.
