Pros

There used to be a great team of hard working smart individuals - but they (almost all) left. Teachers are great but paid minimum wage (since prep time is not paid)

Cons

Authoritative, abusive executive director (harassment) - The only members of the Board of Directors who stayed (only half) endorsed such behavior. Low salary - 48K/year for a director position Top management is horrible. Leadership and strategic vision are non-existant. No funds raised and no budget to spend on developing the organization

Pros

Leaders foster a culture where employees truly feel valued. Staff is directly involved in decisions. Option to work from home. Unique perspectives, experiences and contributions are encouraged and celebrated.

Cons

Working for a nonprofit is rewarding, but sometimes grants don't get approved and a project may have to be put on pause.

Pros

I worked with EFBA for 8 years. It started humbly as a parents' association and it is now a large French Language teaching institution known internationally and publishing learning material over the internet. Even though growth doesn't happen without rough patches and tumbles, EFBA never ceased to be a working place where being a human being with a heart anchored in the left side of your chest is never forgotten. It was very fulfilling to work with EFBA team for eight years. I will not be willing to work for anyone else, except for myself, after these years.

Cons

Ideal for the great Bay Area urban centers. But difficult for families in rural or remote areas to have access to EFBA teaching centers.
