Pros
ESL really cares about creating an outstanding employee experience and it shows. From simple perks like convenient snacks and mini-meals in the cafe to the huge annual celebration party to just the peace of mind that, as a well managed and financially strong credit union, there is no fear of surprise layoffs or corporate takeovers. ESL is also good at representing its core values like caring about people. I'm a transplant to Rochester, and when I tell people I work at ESL, people in the community are very complimentary and anyone who banks there loves it and loves me by association :).
Cons
There is a lot of bureaucracy at ESL. I came from a different industry, so maybe this is because ESL is "bank." But It can take time to get things done. But the leadership seems to be thoughtful and sincere enough about organizational improvement, that if something really needs to get done...EVENTUALLY...it will.
