Pros

The discount. Getting to dress fun and have colored hair, tattoos Some of the people you work with are cool (but some can be very clique like or not as inclusive) The customers are usually great and enjoyable to interact with You do meet a lot of diverse cultures and customers There are things to learn, though some things seem to be not as quickly offered to learn or be trained on when it should be. Products are interesting, beautiful or fun. The day can go by quick sometimes, and that can be enjoyable, and is nice

Cons

Not cohesive training and not a very streamlined operating system. Slow and too crashing at times pos. Terrible loss and theft of product recording and tracking Questionable quality on some products. Soooo much packaging waste!! It's kinda depressing how much packaging trash gets thrown out in a day, especially the ammount of plastic, even for just one single product. Especially for a company that promotes what it does. Not as green as one would think. Though there are a few aspects that are. I hope in the future that improves. Competition with coworkers, especially with sales numbers and hrs. And constant hyper focus on numbers and goals, that doesn't feel team oriented or at least turn into such. Feeling like your only value is by the sales numbers you make for the day or month and for the company. Which effects your future scheduling ammount or even feedback or treatment. At least it's not solo commission anymore. But it seems to bring much stress, especially to stores or sales staff when their numbers aren't high enough due to lack of business traffic, in comparison to other stores. And the constant posting pics on the workpage of who made top sales that day. Which feels like it breeds competition and at times resentment or not positive if they don't hit the mark. And for some girls to literally live on the register and barely get on the sales floor most their shift, and not input the salesfloor persons name in the sales that actually helps customers out and makes those sales. Which leads the one on the reg to have high numbers and preferred hrs or praise. And was a consistent thing in my own past store, and what I'm reading on here from many others. And bringing it up doesn't change anything, and only builds resentment for both parties. Not great pay, especially for the ammount of work and responsibility, that goes in a day, for keyholders and Assistant Managers Difficult to advance within, though I guess that depends on your store? But have read and noticed that most managers or DM's are hired from outside and not within. Which is kinda curious and concerning.

Pros

Fun. easy going retail environment

Cons

The company hired me to move from one city to another 2 hours away and then closed the location they hired me to work at 5 months after hiring me. I found out later this had to have been in the works all along and it was not communicated to me that this was to be the case. I left a job I had had for 7 years to move to a new city for a fresh start only to shortly after have a piece of that start removed by a company with no compassion. They then offered me a lesser position at another location where the pay wasn't even the least bit comparable. This truly could have been a lovely position where it not for all that got in the way.
