Pros
The people that come into my store. :) I have built so many different connections with people that have come into my store. They come back because they can always expect genuine treatment from me. They see that I shop and work at Earthbound and because of that they want to stay and look at the things that have changed since the last time they were in there. Helping people feel comfortable coming in. I enjoy the atmosphere when I walk in, I spend hours in the store just walking around and just admiring things when I am not at work because I enjoy being there. It is like a second home to me now. People from other stores in the mall come there just to get in a better mood because they always know that they can expect to not be judged in the environment.
Cons
I have been with this company for a year now.. It is sad that in this time I have seen the absolute worst of company policies. Everyday there is a new rule. One that contradicts the original. I have a manager that tends to overreact to little things. Sale theft. There are no camera's in our store. Accusations of theft is a common issue. Loss prevention would be so much better... We have more Key Holders than Sales Associates... WHY DO WE NEED SO MANY KEY HOLDERS?! When my original store manager got mad she would cut me down to 5 and a half hours. It occurs to me that my company is a bit biased.. We hired someone because our Head manager thought he was attractive. That was the only reason he got the job. NO DRUG TESTING? That should be addressed. Pay is not up to par. $8.25 is not sustainable. Especially if you have bills.. $10 per hour for an assistant manager position? Absolute rubbish. Sales goals are from 3 years ago when the economy was different.. I have had days where the goal is 1500 and we only make 600 because traffic is so slow. Fake personalities, non genuine people are just not cool. You shouldn't fake being nice to someone... I greet everyone in a good tone and help them even when I am having a rough day. If you speak your mind, they don't listen. New company policy changed the way that bonuses work..GARBAGE. 1% of 3800 is just $38... I mean it is great that it isn't based on the store performance but honestly, its the most ridiculous aspect of the whole deal. What is the point of giving out bonuses if you don't even really get to see any of it? I would give my boss sales to keep her from getting action plans and I would get written up for it and when I stopped doing that I was considered a not team player.. (put in a much nicer way than was actually stated to me) How many store managers have to come in, screw things up and then leave before something gets fixed? HOW MUCH MORE DOES ONE HAVE TO DO TO BE RECOGNIZED AS A VALUABLE ASSET TO THE TEAM?
