Pros
Super helpful coworkers. Opportunities to work on important projects and take on valued responsibilities while still early-career. Great development and mentoring for new engineers. Lots of variety; if you remain open to new experiences and communicate that to your management, you will never be bored, at least for your first ten years.
Cons
The pace of work gets faster and more intense every year. Constant and seemingly arbitrary changes in information systems and processes keep us all on the steep part of the learning curve all the time, which only makes it harder to keep up with the faster pace. Even a very simple task like "records management" (deleting documents when no longer needed) is made unnecessarily difficult through new IT "tools" that are mandatory to use. While job opportunities for young people are fabulous, they're not so great for people with 10+ years with the company.
