Pros

-The floor staff (nurses, MCs/BHCs) and clinicians (therapists, doctors) are often great. -The pay is decent for entry-level work. -The patients are amazing. -The therapeutic programming seems pretty solid as they attract great people (they just can't keep them!).

Cons

-Management wants you to come out of a cookie cutter and have no opinion of your own, which might be doable if they had any level of actual on-the-job training (no, training classes you can do on your own time don't count) or even if they had a comprehensive orientation process. -They dangle opportunities for advancement in front of you when you interview but then don't actually want to promote you when the time comes. -Trainings needed BEFORE working with patients are offered AFTER 2-3 months on the job (bloodborne pathogens, CPR, CPI). -Management offers only vague negative feedback instead of specific do-more-of-this praise or less-of-this critiques. And they'll give you condescending feedback with a big smile. -Management is usually unavailable or unresponsive. -Leadership is opaque--with both staff and patients. -Hard work is not acknowledged or rewarded, so morale is low.

Pros

ERC Pathlight has a meaningful mission, and many employees genuinely care about the work being done for patients and families. I appreciated the opportunity to contribute to healthcare marketing initiatives and gained valuable experience during my time there. I also worked with several talented and dedicated colleagues.

Cons

My primary reason for leaving ERC Pathlight was leadership and team culture. The biggest challenge was not the work itself, but the management environment. I experienced a leadership style that felt toxic, overly critical, inconsistent, and lacking in support. Communication often felt more focused on pointing out mistakes than providing coaching, clarity, or opportunities for improvement. Favoritism was also a rampant issue within the company. Employees were frequently expected to navigate unclear processes and shifting priorities with limited guidance. Asking questions or requesting clarification could feel discouraged rather than supported, which made it difficult to feel psychologically safe. Concerns about leadership behavior did not feel like they were addressed in a meaningful way. Growth opportunities were also a concern. During the interview process, I was given the impression that there would be opportunities for development, but after joining the organization I was told there were limited growth opportunities within my role. **Advice to Future Employees:** Ask detailed questions about your specific manager, team culture, growth opportunities, how feedback is handled, and how processes are documented and shared before accepting a role. The mission is meaningful, but your day-to-day experience will depend heavily on your leadership team and management style.
