Salaries are overall competitive for the industry, the health insurance plan is quite good, and they are embracing the new paradigm of remote work. As long as you can be billed to a client, job security is good.
Cons
The worst back office support I have ever experienced in my life. Good luck getting a response from HR. My residency information was filed incorrectly and my tax withholdings were messed up as a result. Upon flagging the issue, HR told me that it was my responsibility to fix the information which was impossible for me to do as only HR had the administrative privileges to make the change. As far as I can tell the back office exists for the sole purpose of allowing the CEO to keep friends and family on payroll. People stopped traveling for work because reimbursement routinely took six or more weeks for business expenses. Their excuse is that they are a "small business" but I have worked for much smaller companies that operated in a far more professional manner. The lack of professionalism seeps through in almost all of the company's communications. There are numerous inconsistencies between the employee handbook, the information we were presented with during onboarding, and in follow on correspondence. For example, we were told that the (relatively poor) 401k match would be on a four year vesting cycle. However, upon examination in the PAYCHEX platform that Eccalon uses, the 401k is actually configured on a six year vesting cycle. Any requests for clarification from management on company policies was met with, "we'll look into it" but there was never any follow through. Outside of the health insurance, all of the other benefits are bottom of the barrel. Their time off policy is the worst of both worlds. They don't pay out unused time off, but you still have to accrue hours each pay period. Eccalon is also the least value driven organization I have ever been a part of. Their only concern is to extract the maximum amount of dollars out of their contracts. Numerous times I had to perform damage control because Senior Management was backtracking on a requirement that our government client adamant about. It is very common for management to make vague assurances to program managers only to change their minds months later, completely compromising the program manager in front of the client. Companies like Eccalon are why people have such a negative perception of defense contracting.
