Pros
A lot of exposure to many different types of equipment and system configurations. Opportunities to lead RF projects. Employees are generally good people to work with. Will get a lot of hands-on experience on all related RF systems. Will have the opportunity to work with networking, servers, and remote monitoring and control systems engineering.
Cons
Benefits are overall bad and minimal. The 401k is not great either. Standards of operations are lacking for the ESO department. Training is minimal and unorganized. Communication is terrible within the department and between departments. Management refuses to enforce the standards they create and has led to rogue employees and intermediate supervisors. A mountain of paperwork and review process is required before any maintenance can occur. Opportunity for advancement is very minimal. In-fighting between supervisors is performed in the presence of employees on a regular basis. Documentation of systems and projects are often lacking. Change shifts far too often. Office politics are always at work. Generally disgruntled employees and supervisors. Overall, not a good place to have a career. Pay is well below the field average.
