Pros
Engaging training program. Some very good coworkers. I really enjoyed working with some of mine. Uniforms provided. Decent benefits. Pension plan for long term employment. I see that going away soon though.
Cons
Where to begin... Incredibly long hours and work week. 60+. This is to keep your route in top shape and management off your tail. Long hours would be fine if RPH was not a thing. RPH (Revenue Per Hour) is how they pay you. Generate a certain amount of revenue for the company to set and increase your hourly rate. I liked this system originally because you can make some decent cash off of it ($28+ an hour). That is only if you are able to minimize your time driving, communicating, and emergency service requests...which you will have a lot of. The more you work the less you make. I just can't wrap my head around that. Ecolab can be stingy with materials handed out. I couldn't tell you how many times I arrived at an account and was unable to service them correctly because I didn't have access to what I needed. Management. Don't ever expect communication from management unless it is to yell at you for something. We had one fantastic manager who was out there in the field with us and the customers but he left because he did not fit that dictator/micromanager mold. You will be working in solitude. As I said management rarely ever contacts you unless there is a problem. No checking in or anything like that. Coworkers all tend to be quiet for the most part. Equipment is subpar. You will get some new stuff on day one, but the vehicle and other tools were really lacking. You are at the whim of your customers. Management simply will never side with their employees even though they say they do. You can explain a problem and a solution in multiple ways and still get the same response and conclusion from management.
