Great pay and benefits, but poor management culture - Machine Operator Edgewood Properties Employee Review

Pros

**Pros:** Excellent pay and outstanding benefits. Most of the people working in the field were good, hardworking individuals who were easy to get along with. The company also let employees leave early before major holidays, which was appreciated. **Cons:** While there were definitely positives, they were outweighed by what I experienced as poor management and a negative work environment. I found there to be a culture of constant criticism and employee degradation rather than constructive coaching. Instead of developing and mentoring workers, it often felt like management focused on tearing people down. In my experience, promotions did not always go to the most qualified individuals, which hurt morale and made it difficult to see opportunities for advancement based on merit.

Cons

I was genuinely excited to start working at Edgewood Properties because I believed it would be a place where I could learn, grow, and become a better equipment operator. Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite. In my opinion, the management was the worst part of the company. From the superintendent down to the job site foremen, there was very little leadership, communication, or willingness to train employees. Instead of developing people, it felt like everyone was more concerned with protecting their own position than helping others succeed. The work environment was dominated by favoritism, and it often felt like who you knew mattered more than how hard you worked. There was also a culture where employees openly discussed what everyone else was making, which created unnecessary tension and resentment. One of the supervisors I worked under regularly yelled at employees instead of coaching or mentoring them. That kind of behavior made the job stressful and created an atmosphere where people were afraid to ask questions or learn. I left feeling disappointed because I had expected to gain valuable experience and improve my skills. Instead, I found a workplace that lacked professionalism, effective leadership, and a genuine commitment to employee development. Everyone's experience is different, but based on mine, I would not recommend working at Edgewood Properties if you're looking for a company that invests in training, respects its employees, and provides strong leadership.

Pros

Family-owned company with a strong sense of culture and community. Opportunities for growth and advancement as the company continues to expand. Great employee perks, including discounted housing and strong health insurance benefits. Leadership is passionate and invested in both the company and its people. The CEO is demanding and holds high standards, but he genuinely cares, is passionate about the business, and is deeply involved in philanthropic efforts that positively impact the community. Overall, I truly enjoy working for the company and value being part of an organization that is continuously growing and evolving.

Cons

Like many growing companies, there are some growing pains as systems and processes continue to evolve. Recruiting for vacant positions can be challenging, which sometimes places added strain on existing teams.
