Pros

Remote work opportunities promotes work-life balance

Cons

A position was posted on a Tuesday. I applied the following Monday. One month later the job site STILL shows the application window open - as "closing soon”, yet, I was sent a rejection letter stating they "received a fair number of applications by the time I applied {again, just 4 business days later} and are evaluating those early applicants and proceeding to interview them. Should we need additional applicants, we will include yours in the next round." What kind of an employer does this, especially one associated with Higher Education? Common practice is to review ALL applicants upon closing of the application process, weed out those that do not meet the desired qualifications, and then begin the interview selection process. Why on earth would they basically throw out any or all potential well-qualified candidates simply because they received “a fair number already”?!? Sketchy to say the least.

Pros

EDUCAUSE serves higher education IT leaders and professionals while also engaging a wide range of stakeholders dedicated to advancing higher education through technology. This provides EDUCAUSE staff with the opportunity to work with innovative, mission-oriented members and fosters an organizational culture that is similarly focused on innovation in support of higher education's mission. Association employees enjoy positive working relationships that emphasize cooperation and collaboration, and association leaders strive to foster a working environment that incorporates staff input and respects work-life balance.

Cons

Associations are constantly challenged in terms of balancing member needs with available resources, especially as those needs evolve. EDUCAUSE works hard as an organization to keep its events, research, and programs aligned with current and emerging member needs, but timing the end of legacy activities with the launch of new innovations is not always a smooth process. As a result, staff are challenged at times to manage the maintenance or wind-down of legacy efforts while getting new projects off the launch pad.

Pros

The organization provides a professional and collaborative work environment with clear expectations and structured responsibilities. The role offers exposure to data engineering, analytics and reporting initiatives that support core business objectives. Teams work cross-functionally, allowing for effective communication and alignment with stakeholders. The company supports continuous learning and skill development, and overall work–life balance is reasonable for a full-time position.

Cons

As the organization continues to evolve, certain processes and workflows are periodically refined to align with changing business requirements. The role requires flexibility in managing priorities as initiatives progress.
