Pros
Generally you can work 5 days a week if you are in the right areas. The online system allows you to schedule jobs beforehand, which is good. You can also take a day off (unpaid mind you) whenever you need it. It also allows you to pick and choose districts you feel comfortable being in. I am a secondary social studies teacher so I prefer middle and high school but can accept elementary if I can't find another opening. Overall a fairly easy system. Generally you only work 30-35 hours a week, so I would recommend a part time job to supplement. The company generally lets you work independently. No monthly meetings etc. Meet principles and teachers. I am doing it to maybe secure a full time teaching job. Some schools treat their subs like royalty (others don't) because there are not enough to go around.
Cons
Bi-weekly paystubs (fairly normal for most companies though - just a personal preference) Low Pay (after taxes it isn't great - which is why I work part time - I know it is the districts who generally set daily pay) Benefits (I think there is a health care plan you can buy, but besides that you're pretty much a sub contractor) Bad classrooms - occasionally you get a bad assignment . Luckily you are never forced to return there if there was no classroom management plan (been there, done that).
