Pros

Eight Sleep offers a rare amount of ownership and flexibility in how you shape your role. I come from a pure Finance background (investment banking and private equity) and started at Eight Sleep as a Strategic Finance Manager. A year in I told the CEO that I am interested in launching our marketing in China and he gave me the opportunity to run the initiative. As a growing startup, Eight Sleep really values strong talent and takes time to nurture those talents. I enjoy the amount of executive exposure at Eight Sleep and feel I am getting paid to learn. The executive team at Eight Sleep are smart, driven, have high expectations, and willing to teach.

Cons

The pace is fast and candidates have to be comfortable with working without clear instructions. Working here feels like building a startup within a startup. The company is growing rapidly and priorities can shift quickly. This is not a 9 to 5 job. This is a passion project for everyone who works here. You have to really enjoy what you do otherwise you will burn out.

Pros

- The team is incredibly smart, hard working, and collaborative. - The product works and the vision of the company is inspiring. - You will get to work on really interesting problems and have more ownership than you probably should.

Cons

The polarized reviews here makes sense. The culture is intense and not for everyone. It's like a sports team that wants to be the best. Expectations and accountability are high, especially from Matteo (CEO). The two traits I see that separate people who love this place versus who don't: 1. People who thrive don't take criticism personally and use it to improve. Those who struggle perceive it as a personal attack ("I got yelled at"). 2. Ability to deliver - if you are great at what you do, this place is fun because you get lots of responsibility and autonomy. But if you struggle to deliver, I can see it feeling overwhelming and oppressive.

Pros

Eight Sleep is one of the few places where you can actually feel the impact of your work in real time. The company moves fast — ideas go from concept to production in days or weeks, not quarters. If you’re someone who likes building, shipping, and iterating quickly, this environment is incredibly energizing. There’s a strong culture of ownership. You’re not boxed into a narrow role — especially in product or BizOps, you end up touching everything: product, operations, CX, growth, and even hardware decisions. This makes it an amazing place to learn quickly and develop a very holistic understanding of how a company operates and how decisions are made. Leadership sets a high bar. Expectations are intense, but it pushes you to think sharper, move faster, and operate at a higher level than you might elsewhere. When things are working, the team can execute at a very high level. Also — the product is genuinely compelling. Sleep is a problem people really care about, and when the product works well, users love it. That makes the work feel meaningful.

Cons

The bar is high, but support structures (process, documentation, tooling) are still catching up in some areas. You often have to build the system while running it. The cool thing is you are the one building it so you really learn how to build from the ground up.
