Pros

You may get more substantive projects at junior levels and solid exposure to interesting work

Cons

EA suffers from poor leadership, managers, and mentors. The leadership is not focused on career-pathing, talent management, or developing the next generation. Insecure leaders and managers are protected, and members of their teams are blocked from growth opportunities, which ultimately hurts the firm and the clients. While there are some well-intentioned people in management, complicity and an unwillingness to override insecure managers do not demonstrate the courageous leadership that the firm needs. These behaviors pre-date the private equity sale and have only been exacerbated by private equity.

I'm interning during summer, where this profession is at its best, whether or not there are cons isn't something I can tell yet. Although I am getting paid almost ten dollars less than interns at other accounting firms.

Pros

I've been with the firm for 6 years, starting at the associate level, and some of the most foundational moments of my career have happened here. The culture is genuinely a go-getter one — from staff to partner, people show up with real guidance, not gatekeeping. As a Black woman now in a management role here, I can speak to this directly: performance is what gets rewarded, full stop. I've asked for what I felt I'd earned and gotten it. Leadership has shown up for me in ways that go beyond the job — present for milestone moments in my life, invested in me as a person, not just a line on a chart. If you're willing to put in the work, this firm will invest right back.

Cons

Tax season hours can run long — that's pretty typical for this industry, but it's worth knowing what you're walking into. The pace and accountability here push you to grow fast— if you're looking for something more hands-off, this might not be the right fit.
