Pros

Helping people in the community.

Cons

Training is poor, with trainers having little investment in success or failure of trainees. Favoritism and nepotism among workers who've been there a while,. Management works through fear and intimidation. Individuals are moved around frequently to keep people from getting too comfortable. If you are in the "in group," you can get away with almost anything. If you aren't, your smallest mistakes will be used to make you feel that you are on the brink of being fired. Complex rules for administering programs with no clear-cut guidance; everyone will tell you something different on what to do. Computer systems buggy and outdated. Top-heavy management;basically a small group of people looking out for themselves and protecting each other. Very low morale and very high turnover, with current turnover around 65%, particularly among employees who've been there the shortest time. Instead of being treated as a professional, you are treated like a 5th grader.

Pros

Most coworkers are great and the work is satisfying and rewarding. Healthy work life balance. Easy to take time off.

Cons

-pay is not super competitive and caps out pretty quickly leaving you with no room for growth -promotional opportunities are somewhat rare - some management is unprofessional and seems untrained and frequently engages in behaviors that are sometimes just annoying and sometimes borderline unethical (caustic verbal interactions with staff, sarcastic answers to genuine questions, belittling and insulting staff, micromanagement, at one point upset that staff talked about their pay, etc).
