Cons
I have currently worked for this company for almost 10 years without a write up or disciplinary issue. I come to work regularly, pick up many hours of overtime and even worked through the pandemic with the only thanks we got was a hazard pay check the state gave us with the employer making it seem they did it. We have been working without a union contract under previous terms for 3 years. Recently we signed a new contract with promises of a substantial pay increase and a decent bonus. Now that it’s time to deliver the verbiage of the contract has changed. The promised pay increase was substantially less especially compared to the competition as well forcing employees to sign a paper stating we can’t work for there competition. An employee that has been 9 years without no issues makes $1 more then somebody coming in the door with less experience. Your forced to work extra shifts to make ends meet as well as basic human needs. Highest turnover job in the area who can barely keep employees due to low pay and union reps who are more concerned with how they can get kickbacks for themselves instead of representing there fellow coworkers with a livable wage increase and back pay instead of a shut up bonus and longevity bonus you only get if your in your 5 year interval. If you bring a grievance up most likely the rep will either “ lose it “ or will dismiss it so they can file there own grievance cutting you out of pay. In 2019 our president made a public initiative to give all DSP a pay increase to $15 by July 2021 which our competitors start at with zero experience. After we had a zoom meeting were we voted on our contract , we were given fabricated numbers of a 11.5% increase along with a separate percentage for longevity. Neither of those occurred as well as saying if you haven’t been here 10 years you don’t get nothing only base pay of $13.50 and a sign on bonus for the new contract that’s a joke. The sad part of it all is the only people who suffer are the individuals served since employees don’t stick around long so they see a revolving door of faces and personalities of people who either love there job or hate it and just want a pay check. You report wrong doing like somebody not giving a medication or Sleeping on the clock and the supervisors will create a hostile work environment instead of removing the problem employee. Honestly if this is the way things are currently stay away, don’t attend the monthly almost weekly job fairs. Work for a company that will appreciate you and give you the monetary value you deserve for being a molder of minds with compassion instead of treating you like a number that can be replaced like a drive thru
