Pros

Benefits, guaranteed full-time hours, knowledge on different database systems, and discounts on hotels and 50% food. Sometimes the customers can be a drag, however, that's with any job and you just have to let it slide off your shoulders. Other times tho the customers are very understanding and will even give you tips on how to advance your career. The benefits are pretty good but you only get access to them after 90 days. Also, Housekeeping and the Kitchen departments usually have really nice people who are pretty laidback but about getting their work done. There are multiple career opportunities, however, it is pretty scarce for them to promote you if you are not a GM favorite. Work-life balance is pretty nonexistent if working for a full-time job. Be prepared for inconsistent scheduling for the first few weeks of working. Good for a first job out of high school/ a good part-time summer job for college students.

Cons

I am aware that not all Embassy Suites may operate in this manner but for the property that I worked at, it was very strenuous. It wasn't more say the guest that made it strenuous because the work is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it but more so the culture, values, and senior management. The pay is pretty low and the hours are 40 a week(hours being positive, pay not so much). If you are someone who values professionalism and genuinely enjoys helping others at first this job may seem great but if management is poor in values, it will be a struggle. It was a very toxic work environment for anyone who doesn't like spending time talking about other employees and what they do wrong. Many of the management would use the excuse of seeing if you "fit in" to decide if they wanted to keep you on. If you do not fit a certain vision that management conjured up in their head about you, be prepared for scrutiny and toxic work environment practices. If you don't contribute to their high school clique standard they will lower hours and find things they don't like. Many of the managers (including the GM) have this mindset and if you don't contribute/enable this behavior they will not like that. Also, they want you to be loud and in guests' personal space even if that guest is talking to someone else. They will hold you to a different set of rules if higher management has decided that you're not loud enough for the front desk. Also, if the GM finds a reason to not like you, any reason at all, be prepared to be going to war with every higher up manager.

Pros

Friendly guests, opportunities to learn multiple areas of the operation, and some hardworking coworkers who genuinely care about providing good service.

Cons

Management inconsistency and favoritism created a difficult work environment. Concerns and feedback were not always handled objectively, and decisions often appeared to be influenced by personal relationships rather than facts or direct communication. Employees could be held accountable without being given an opportunity to explain their perspective, leading to a culture where misunderstandings escalated instead of being resolved. Communication between management and staff lacked transparency, and morale suffered as a result.
