Pros

Benefits are excellent, the 9% retirement contribution and time off are hard to beat. Insurance options are fairly good, though costs have risen recently. Compensation is decent given higher ed as an industry. The people who work here are generally pleasant and want to do the right thing. I've been fortunate to have flexible managers. Some niche opportunities here given Emerson's majors and offerings (theaters, etc.)

Cons

Upward mobility can be limited and internal opportunities could be advertised better. An emphasis on growth would be nice. There is no unifying staff culture or direction and a lack of communication from the administration, leading to rumors and misinformation spreading. Student-facing roles can be hard. Some students can be challenging to work with depending on the role you're in and the amount of work may be more than you can reasonably complete. Compensation: hard to keep up with Boston-area costs and other organizations in the city that can afford to pay more (tech companies etc)
