Pros

I've worked with Empower for 18 years and I intend to retire here. I enjoy my job and the culture so much that I would turn down an offer from a competitor even if it were for more money. The reasons why I love working for Empower (in random order): a) job opportunities - I've worked within 3 departments over the course of my tenure. I've always been supported and encouraged to seek opportunities. I'm in my sweet spot job now! Also, we have flexibility to work remotely which saves me a lot of time. b) ideas from anyone are valued for process improvement. c) my managers valued me - without me having to ask, they have promoted me. Our managers treat us like business owners and give us flexibility as moms. d) Benefits! I needed fertility treatment and my clinic said some employers add an optional fertility treatment coverage. I wasn't expecting to have any coverage, but to my delight Empower had opted into coverage! It didn't cover everything, but it made me feel extra valued that my employer understood that fertility is important. I know from being part of Facebook groups that not many employers have any coverage. e) my employer invests in the business - enhancements and product.

Cons

I can't think of any cons. Some job positions likely have less flexibility (such as the call center) where you need to be on calls, but it is still a great steppingstone into the organization.

Pros

I like working here, I find the work life balance with this role to be ideal, and remote opportunities are regularly available at the company ever since the pandemic. Unlimited PTO and I don't have feel guilty to use it, team structure really helps when people are out of the office. Receive good salary for my part of the country, with yearly raises and bonus based on merit.

Cons

I don't have many cons, I would say it would depend on your manager, as is the case with most positions in this world. I've had amazing managers with my time here and some mediocre managers, but overall the job has been good enough to weather the storm of a bad boss.

Pros

Many smart people genuinely want to grow & succeed; An excellent long term strategic vision backed by long term oriented investors; Ample growth opportunities at a business that is very well positioned for long term growth. Leaders that genuinely care about their people. Remote work is truly an advantage - just the lack of a commute makes a large difference. Opportunity to be at the ground level of a company that will develop a much stronger national brand over the next decade.

Cons

Delivery & Execution are areas that are truly challenging in the high growth/evolutionary environment that Empower is in today. Cultural changes are happening within the business that create some competing priorities, though Sr. Leaders continue to lead through this. Working with people across the US means don't expect a normal schedule - early / late starts and working lunches are the norm.
