Pros

Compensation is competitive for the industry and there are opportunities to gain experience quickly due to the pace of work. Workforce is extremely diverse.

Cons

The organization has experienced frequent restructuring and layoffs, which has created significant uncertainty for employees. Teams are often lean, which can lead to heavy workloads and urgent timelines. There is also a strong push to complete work quickly, which can sometimes impact the ability to conduct thorough reviews and maintain high documentation quality. Leadership style in some areas can feel top-down, and communication around organizational changes could be more transparent. Employees working in regulated environments may find the pace challenging when trying to balance compliance expectations with aggressive timelines. Long hours and schedule unpredictability which result in an inability to have a decent work-life balance.

Pros

A few things I'd tell anyone considering Empower: We're AI- and innovation-forward, so things move quickly and actually get done. We're early enough that you get to design the foundation, not inherit someone else's. And the mission is real — everyone supports getting patients access to affordable medicine, and the care for that mission is evident in everything we do. Fast, foundational, mission-driven, and team forward.

Cons

Fast pace and a still-being-built foundation cut both ways: priorities shift quickly, some processes and tools are still maturing, and there's more ambiguity and manual work than at an established company. It's a strong fit if you're energized by building and comfortable with change — a harder one if you want everything structured and settled on day one.

This captures the Empower experience for builders with unusual clarity. The tension you name — between the opportunity to design from scratch and the ambiguity that comes with a still-maturing foundation — is exactly the trade-off we want people to understand before they join. Your advice to management is worth repeating: invest in people as fast as you are growing. That is the challenge and the commitment. The tools, support structures, and development paths have to keep pace with the speed of the business, or the speed breaks people instead of energising them. We hear that. Appreciate the candour — this is the kind of review that helps the right people find us. — Empower Pharmacy
