Pros

Comprehensive healthcare benefits No-cost medication benefit is a standout and highly valuable

Cons

Leadership & Communication: Communication from leadership is often inconsistent, particularly during times of organizational change. Important updates are sometimes delivered in group settings without sufficient transparency or opportunity for individual discussion. Layoff Handling & Employee Experience: Workforce reductions were handled in a way that felt impersonal, with limited advance notice or individualized communication. This can impact employee trust and morale. Lack of Strategic Alignment: Teams can experience shifting priorities without clear direction, making it difficult to plan and execute effectively. Career Growth & Development: Limited visibility into career progression and advancement opportunities. Professional development is not always clearly supported or structured. Workload & Resource Constraints: Teams are often expected to manage high workloads without corresponding increases in resources, which can lead to burnout. Manager Consistency: Employee experience can vary significantly depending on the manager, indicating a lack of consistency in leadership training and expectations. Change Management: Organizational changes are sometimes reactive rather than proactive, with limited communication around the “why” behind decisions.

This review names something specific and important: how change is communicated matters as much as what the change is. Delivering sensitive updates is critical and it builds trust as the foundation of everything else. A new leadership team is now in place, and structured communication — including how and when organisational changes are shared — is a priority. We are also building clearer career pathways and investing in proactive workforce planning so that the people building this company have visibility into where the company is going and where they fit in that direction. The benefits you highlight — especially the medication benefit — represent Empower's genuine commitment to the people who work here. But benefits alone do not make a workplace. The leadership consistency, career clarity, and communication transparency you are asking for are what we are building now. Your advice on leadership development and transparent communication is taken seriously. Thank you for staying and for saying this out loud. — Empower Pharmacy

Pros

A few things I'd tell anyone considering Empower: We're AI- and innovation-forward, so things move quickly and actually get done. We're early enough that you get to design the foundation, not inherit someone else's. And the mission is real — everyone supports getting patients access to affordable medicine, and the care for that mission is evident in everything we do. Fast, foundational, mission-driven, and team forward.

Cons

Fast pace and a still-being-built foundation cut both ways: priorities shift quickly, some processes and tools are still maturing, and there's more ambiguity and manual work than at an established company. It's a strong fit if you're energized by building and comfortable with change — a harder one if you want everything structured and settled on day one.

This captures the Empower experience for builders with unusual clarity. The tension you name — between the opportunity to design from scratch and the ambiguity that comes with a still-maturing foundation — is exactly the trade-off we want people to understand before they join. Your advice to management is worth repeating: invest in people as fast as you are growing. That is the challenge and the commitment. The tools, support structures, and development paths have to keep pace with the speed of the business, or the speed breaks people instead of energising them. We hear that. Appreciate the candour — this is the kind of review that helps the right people find us. — Empower Pharmacy
