Broken promises about holding my job for school. - Director of Rehabilitation EmpowerMe Wellness Employee Review

Pros

Just the residents and coworkers.

Cons

I was a COTA/L and DOR for almost 3 years creating the program with the biggest caseload and highest revenues within the company. I tried to make my "therapy career flourish" and went to OTR school full time and managed my building the entire time. When it was time for my fieldworks, I was promised that I would be able to go take care of them and have my job back upon completion. I even came back to work for a month and a half after my first 3-month fieldwork as previously agreed. But after the second fieldwork, a mere 4 DAYS before being scheduled to come back, I received a call stating that my job was not there for me anymore "we're just not going to move forward with you anymore" and they couldn't give me an actual reason why. To this day, I have been given no substantive rationale for this decision.

Pros

The work is satisfying. Working in ALF is great because it is working in their own home setting.

Cons

You are dependent on the rehab director of the building to help build the caseload, and often times they do not get compensation that motivates them to do that. The area directors do not have a good pulse on what the clinic director is actually doing; it’s not managed well.
