Short lived, thank goodness. - Fired In Two Weeks Encore Global Employee Review

As a senior technician, I came to PSAV with project management experience. I immediately recognized inefficient work methods and a serious lack for the technicians regarding their well being. For example, even though 15 minute breaks are mandatory by law and company policy, management made no effort to have their employees take a quick rest after hours of walking and setting up gear, etc. The base of operations for the tech.'s is a dingy store room. There was no refrigerator or snack machine to allow the employees to refuel from the heavy work at times. Instead, the hotel staff would sneak in food or the tech's would salvage food from the rooms where clients just had been. Very unprofessional and less than a class act. After noticing the shortfalls I made recommendations to my superior. They were ignored. The following week I called for a meeting to discuss this and see how I can improve by either trying to implement or just sit back and observe. Little did I know that a decision had already been made to fire me for such actions. They said it was for lack of "hustle" and not knowing the gear well enough. That was b.s., but they needed a reason to remove me so they offered me "freelance" status and requested I put in writing to cover their ass for firing me so quickly. I have not heard anything since. And their pay is insulting, especially for knowledgeable techs. Raises equate to about .50 cents per year per hour. In short, you are treated like a slave with high expectations and little reward.
