Pros
You get what you give..play nice and you can learn a lot from people who have been around. In hotels you get 3 squares a day at no charge which saves you a bundle. they give you a uniform allowance which is pretty fair the health benefits are pretty decent considering some I have seen. dental is weak. most of the mid level guys and girls are OK to work with..you definitely have a few over zealous goobers but that can happen anywhere.
Cons
Long hours ..but thats the nature of the beast. transitioning to management hurts you in the pocket if you are not careful..same hours 60-70 p/week but you are now salary and that can hurt without OT the hotels generally treat you like a doormat unless you get lucky and work with a cool hotel staff thats fair and nice and treats you like part of the team..but a lot of that comes from your director..if he is a tool then the hotels feelings trickle down.
