Pros
I started as a Fellow directly out of college; the organization provides great training on how to be an environmental organizer and advocate. Opportunities to lobby elected officials and call reporters right out of the gate. Started with lots of responsibility and over the years have earned/taken on more, from running a state organization to running a national program. Have gotten to travel and seen many parts of the country. Good benefits.
Cons
Long hours, if you are not into that sort of thing. Culture of accountability, if that stresses you out. Pay isn't much to write home about at first, but enough to mostly get by and the benefits are actually pretty good.
