Pros
I’ve gotten great experience at this job and do a lot of different things (although most of that was only due to someone quitting and them having no one else to give it to). Work/life balance is great with great telework/remote work options. High pay for a relatively easy job, and easy to take leave. The supervisors leave you alone as long as you don’t rock the boat.
Cons
The division I’m in is very political, and I’m practically a ghost. I’ve been the target of a couple of witch hunts. Clannish and unreceptive group of people. Immaturity runs rampant in the office (gossip, bullying, inventing drama) and is enabled by management, not even high school BS but sometimes on an elementary school level. The office is full of tattletales. Coworkers act like they are in extreme competition with you and throw you under the bus to management. Career opportunities, recognition (awards), and visibility are only available to those in the clique. Favoritism, despite management getting in trouble over it in the past, still abounds. Different standards for discipline between the clique/non-clique. Remote work is under constant threat of being taken away. Trump-era lean management initiatives continue to be embraced where we are constantly forced to find things to fix and where some employees don’t have the necessary job skills to work on the project. Certain finance offices/work units are coddled and continue to make the same mistakes but are never addressed and still get recognized with awards.
