Pros

It's the airline industry. Frequently offering flexible schedules, discounted or free travel, shift trades and work that usually isn't that difficult.

Cons

You won't necessarily find the listed Pros at Envoy. The parent company American Airlines, gets great press, employee perks and benefits. Envoy and the other contracted regional carriers, on the other hand, get fewer benefits, lower wages and higher costs than counterparts performing the same functions. The sum of those issues make for short handed crews, late flights, safety issues and some glaring incompetence. You will likely work the same full size aircraft as better paid counterparts (American, United or Delta employees), but you'll do so for substantially less money and you'll work a lot harder for the money you do take home. Trading shifts to find time to travel, will likely be more difficult. Many of your coworkers won't be interested in working their own shifts, much less yours. The industry trend among large carriers is to contract out as much work as possible to airlines like Envoy, who keep most of the staff part time to avoid the cost of employee benefits and keep the payroll figures small. Working for a regional carrier isn't necessarily going to improve your prospect of getting a job with one of the larger carriers. Since there isn't a lot of job security in the airline industry anyway, do yourself and your family a favor. Pursue a position with a larger legacy carrier. You'll make more money, have better advancement and travel opportunities and a safer place to work.
