Pros

- Friendly Staff - 1hr travel time on public transport (to Kewdale, WA) - Nice office

Cons

- Stressful environment - Always being watched - Got sacked as soon as I finished the project I was working on. Still was in my probation. (my probation finishes at the end of August) - Says that they're fine with WFH but are very up tight about providing that - Your boss will be over your shoulder at every moment they can get. - Other employees/bosses will not pay attention to important things about your personal life or work.

Pros

I feel empowered to make the best decisions for my team without having to go through many layers of bureaucracy. I enjoy my team, coworkers, leaders and the culture. Our business unit is given a lot of autonomy to set our own engineering processes and product roadmaps instead of it being dictated from the top. I feel like I have many opportunities for growth.

Cons

Working for a huge company can have some challenges, particularly around IT related policies. Epiroc is a mostly mining company, not a tech company so some of the policies and infrastructure doesn't fully align with the work my team does, which is mostly software development. Working in the mining industry can come with some extra pressure since there is a lot of profit on the line by our customers and any issues that come up need a quick resolution.
