People leave jobs because of bad managers. I’ll say that again - people leave jobs because of bad managers. I’ve never worked a job that has affected my mental health so poorly as the one at Epsilon due to the following: a manager who is overbearing, micromanaging, overcommunicative, constantly crosses boundaries, has no understanding that people are here to work and not become best buddies first and to top it off, who lacks complete awareness of their behavior. Being “nice” does not give you the right to consistently cross your subordinates’ boundaries without any sort of awareness. Having X amount of years of experience does not give you the right to consistently micromanage your subordinates. People are here to work, not to create the most socially fake engaging team.
And the very last straw: keep real-life politics out of team conversations and out of the workplace.
My sincere advice to anyone before taking a job at Epsilon: please ensure that you are compatible with your manager’s work style because some of them will impose their overbearing style on to you and expect you to be just like them.
