Pros

A professional company built to recognize and reward top performers with leadership that "gets it". We recently had Town Hall meetings in every market and every employee had the opportunity to listen to our leaders and ask ANYTHING they want. Best of all our leaders cared to listen.

Cons

There are great resources for help but sometimes the layers get in the way and can feel bureaucratic at times to get things done.

What a fantastic validation of our efforts to make our employees — our most valuable resource — feel seen and heard. Thank you so much for sharing this inspiring message. The Town Hall meetings are truly the highlight of our senior leaders’ year! Nothing energizes or inspires them more than hearing from all of you, and as you said, they were truly listening, and not just hearing. In the months that follow Town Halls, there’s a tremendous amount of follow-up meetings, discussions, research, and new initiatives that take place. We get our best ideas from you and your colleagues in the field! As for your noted “cons” and advice, you are not alone in raising these points. While we are self-aware of this feedback, we see that we still have some work to do to make you and your teammates feel more empowered, or at least to better communicate the why behind our processes. Thank you for the feedback, and please keep speaking up! And most importantly, thank you for your 10 years of service. We are honored that you have chosen to commit your career to us, and we look forward to many more years together.

Pros

Housing discount, strong portfolio exposure, opportunity to work across multiple communities, and valuable experience in a fast-paced leasing environment.

Cons

Management loves to preach “teamwork” until something goes wrong, then suddenly it’s every employee for themselves. Very documentation-heavy culture where certain managers seem to enjoy writing people up more than actually developing talent. Communication is inconsistent, accountability is selective, and favoritism is hard to ignore. Commission structure is shockingly low for the workload and expectations. Leadership often presents itself as organized and supportive, but behind the scenes there’s a lot of blame-shifting, targeting of employees, and policy confusion — especially regarding employee housing and lease transitions. My own experience at the end of my employee lease felt retaliatory and left a very negative impression.
