Pros

Opportunity to advance in the company.

Cons

Eversource has a climate of nepotism/partisanship for those connected to higher management. For those that get the job on their own merit, it is an uphill battle. I was expected to work 60+ hours per week under enormous pressure and someone else always got credit for the work. Unless you fall into the Eversource clique, you will be left to "sink or swim" for your first few years at the company. If you last you may have a shot, however, if you do not fit into the right Eversource upper management clique you will be the first casualty when they want to bring someone else in to the do the job. This clique is also a boys club, so unless you are a 28-70 year old white male that belongs to a country club or has a house on Cape Cod it will be hard to break through.

Pros

Good pay and benefits. Normal vacation. Interesting job, meaning it’ll keep you mind sharp.

Cons

There are no goals or expectations set that allows you to prove you’re ready for growth. The only way to advance your career is to be one of the cool guys OR work 16 hours a day and weekends. Bonuses and merit increase is the same across the board no matter how much extra you do. The work force is too small for customer/management and the expectations are set too high. There are not enough vehicles for the work force and often times trainees have no way of getting to the job site. We would run out of stock items (cable, wire, connections, transformer, safety gear) that are necessary to keep the power on. Our best coworkers have left for biggest competitor…me too.
