Pros

I don't know that any job or employer is perfect, but Everspring comes as close as I think any can. There are many things I could list for positives: swanky office, fun outings, or the fact that you have opportunities to engage with the founders of the company. What I love most about Everspring, though, is that everyone in leadership—from my direct reports up to the CEO and President—have demonstrated they value me as a person and not just a worker. Unlike at so many other jobs, I have never once felt that decisions were being made or that things were being asked of me that prioritized the bottom line over my wellbeing. In my experience with my team, the value placed on the employee as a person and not just a worker also means that mistakes aren’t treated punitively. Instead they are opportunities to learn, grow, and do better. My direct reports also value my overall goals for professional development and career growth and have worked with me to find ways that I can achieve those goals.

Cons

There could be better collaboration efforts made between certain departments. There are times the lack of that does make it feel that my team and what we need help with are at the very bottom of the priority list. Other times, it can feel like you are just metaphorically shouting into the void. But anyone who has worked very long in education has probably encountered both of those things. They are not unique to Everspring in my experience, but rather a byproduct of much larger issues that plague educational services across the spectrum.

Pros

The best boss I’ve ever had was at this job. I love that the job is mostly remote, but there are some in person opportunities. I always felt supported and fairly compensated.

Cons

We’re required to come in twice a month. I wish it wasn’t a requirement, just strongly encouraged.

Pros

Nice office, free coffee and snacks Work From Home Stepping Stone Some nice coworkers

Cons

Terrible work-life balance Will have you managing a huge account, almost basically on your own, and your managers (plural) will either be so burnt out that they cannot help you or so obsessed with looking good for the CEO that they disregard you and pile on more work Layoffs (twice in a calendar year now), where they’ll move the extra work to an already burnt out team Low Pay, Laughable Raises No place for growth Pushes to complete the “Chicago Great Places to Work” survey with positive remarks because that’s one of the only things making them look good to new hires
