Pros

Great office, great facilities, and the people are amazing. Everybody at Exabeam share pretty similar values which makes the culture at Exabeam great. There are some really smart engineers working here and being able to work alongside talented individual contributors have really put a perspective on my career and how I want to grow in my career. I love the vision of the company. I think it's heading towards a good direction and in a good market for SIEM to try to capture the greater SOC market. Amazing work from home/remote option. The policy before the pandemic 2020 was already pretty relaxed so if you needed to stay home for a day once a week then it's pretty flexible. Then remote working became a thing and productivities have maintained mostly because the company already had really good policies in place so it felt seamless. Flexible time off is really flexible! But it's more based on approval on the manager so as long as your manager is cool then asking for time off should be a breeze. Depending on your manager, you can have a great career growth here. My manager cares about me and cares about my growth in the company, working through issues and finding the right challenge for me. I also appreciate seeing a lot of co-workers being able to transfer departments and roles within Exabeam. They are super open to keeping you and finding a better position that suits your career interest.

Cons

Benefits are okay. Not the worst but for a growing company that prides in valuing its employee, it does not reflect in its benefits: No 401k matching, no yearly bonuses, poor equity options. Super strict merit/promotion cycle. I've had so many co-workers (not just engineering, throughout the whole company) get played so many times by HR about pay bumps. Especially when moving lateral or to different departments, HR always have something to say to excuse from giving a fairer wage. It seems like HR use some internal database to compare wage but the numbers HR provides is so much off when comparing on Glassdoor and other salary comparison online tools. Then during COVID, they proceeded to cancel all merit cycles but continued the promotion cycles so those who got promoted at the time were given more responsibilities but their pay stayed the same with no back pay afterwards even though throughout the entire pandemic, they reassured multiple times that we're not losing money at all. Super mixed signals whether or not the company cared about the employees. I don't know what's worse: customer or employee retention. They both deserve its own paragraph. Customers churning is awful due to the product. It's buggy and upgrading is a nightmare which causes us to lose customers. Engineers used to have to spend so much time helping fix customer's issues. On-calls used to be a continuous fight against fire. Things have gotten recently a lot better as customer support started hiring more and training though. Can't say if that has been helping with customer's retention yet. Now about employees, engineers come in and out all the time. Once, half of an entire team quit within a span of a quarter which pushed management on high alert since the ones who quit were key engineers of the product. I used to think its pretty normal for people to jump ships every few years but it's becoming a pattern that it's more than just individuals wanting other things and more like a management issue. Another common pattern is that engineer's merit/promotion cycles are getting smaller, so some engineers who leave is due to poor compensation. At this point, I feel like most engineers who are still there are waiting for IPO but the question is now is it even worth it. There was a handful of people quit solely due to upper management. Now we're struggling to find talent and we haven't had a new engineer join in so long. I can see the desperation of trying to keep engineers to stay but they are not doing a consistent good job. There used to be so much Exabeam kool-aid going around, and everybody was pretty happy about working at the company. Not sure what happened during my time there but something changed and Exabeam has not been the same.
