Terrible leadership and constant reorgs fueling rapid decline - Anonymous employee Excelsior University Employee Review

Pros

Benefits like PTO and healthcare costs are better at Excelsior than most employers. The college has unique internal policies like closing early the day before a typical holiday, which is a nice perk. The tuition benefit is also a nice benefit if you're looking to complete your degree.

Cons

The senior and executive leadership of the college has become quite toxic. Many of the qualified senior leaders have departed in the past year and those that remain have substantially less higher ed experience and virtually no leadership capacity. The level of morale and toxicity goes well beyond the expected "storming, norming, performing" process that comes with organizational change. The strategy and leadership dysfunction has exasperated cons the institution was already dealing with such as declining competitiveness, over-priced tuition, and academic/learning technology that has not been supported to the extent necessary. Outside of leadership and (lack of) strategy, the college's enrollment is heavily concentrated in one low performing program and there does not seem to be a solid plan to address this by promoting other/new programs to replace this one.
