Pros
- Stable company, no layoffs - professionalism - May be a good career move if you need experience or require the stability of a full-time job
Cons
- Little or no career growth in the IS Department - Yearlong "moratorium" on deployments of software essentially means no business features for a whole year - IS department is overstaffed, so you have to do busywork - input from technical people is strongly discouraged---all ideas have to come from management - micromanagement -- be prepared to provide multiple updates in multiple formats - IS Director & review panel approval is required to perform the smallest tasks, such as turning on a service that has been halted - rather than use industry-standared technologies, they develop "homegrown" solutions. Stability is a daily concern. -dress code - limited vacation - management always assumes that employees are out to harm the company.
